Leisure Habits

leisure activities

Hello ladies and boys! Is everything alright?

Have you got your ticket to this ride?

Let me ask you:
How often do you go to the park?
How often do you watch tv?
How often do you listen to music?
How often do you read books?
How often do you check your Facebook and Instagram?

Those activities can be named of Leisure activities because you can do them in your free time to relax and enjoy the time.
Leisure Activities são atividades que você faz no seu horário livre para relaxar e curtir).

When we talk about  this subject it is normal to talk about…

When you want to ask someone how often that person does a certain kind of activity, you  simply can ask just like this, look:how

How often+ Auxiliary verbs+ noun+ complement

How often do you visit your family?

How often do you meet your friends?

How often do you go to bars?

How often do you go to clubs to dance?

How often do you cook?

How often do you drink beer?

(How often questiona com qual frequência você faz uma certa atividade).

FREQUENCY ADVERBSnotepad-117597_960_720

To talk about how often you do a certain kind of activity you can use Frequency Adverbs.
And they are…

You also can use adverbial phrases to talk about the frequency you do some activities in your daily routine.

ADVERBIAL PHRASESwrite-990373_960_720

Let`s see some examples using them:

John: How often do you eat out?
Annie: I eat out once a month.

Peter: How often do you use whatsapp?
Emely: I use it five or six times a day!

Jack: How often do you get on line?
Clare: I get on line just twice a day.

connectors- article

I have one thing to say… It`s time to learn baby!!!

And today we are going to talk about connectors. Have you heard of them before?
Well, they are used to connect information and also in same cases sentences to sentences.

Did you know it?

The first one that I want to talk about is…

As Long As

This connector has some different interpretations depending on the context and sentence, pay attention to some of them!

Context 1heart

A couple talking to each other in a lovely way!

I will love you as long as I live.

In this sentence as long as  in Portuguese has the idea of Enquanto.

Context 2book

As a teacher I have to advice and motivate my students, then generally I say to them in a very friendly way:

As long as you keep studying you will learn more and more!

In this sentence as long as in Portuguese has the idea of SE...

Context 3singing

A friend of mine invites me to go to a concert, but I`m broken (I do not have any money), then I say…

I will go to the concert as long as it is free!!!

In this sentence as long as comes with the idea of Desde que

As soon As

This second connector that I want to talk to you about has the idea that something has to be done and you cannot waste time,  take a look.

As soon as you arrive home, prepare our dinner, please!!!

Reply me, as soon as you get my message, please!

Call me, as soon as possible!

In Portuguese as soon as has the idea of Assim que… e nos da a ideia que não há tempo a perder.

It is very common to abbreviate this connector  and say or write it as- ASAP

As well As

This connector is used to join two sentences and make of it just one, then you can avoid repetition of information in your speech.

Example 1

1-He has got a house.

2- He has got an apartment.

He has got a house as well as an apartment.

Let`s see another example:
Example 2

1- You are studying English

2- Your friends are studying English

You as well as your friends are studying English.

Just to be sure that you understood how it works, let`s see one last example about it:
Example 3

1- She is very kind

2- Her mother is also very kind

She as well as her mother is very kind.

In Portuguese As well as has the idea of Assim como

As far As

This is the last connector I want to highlight for you guys!
In Portuguese you can have some different interpretations depending of the context and also the sentence.

You can get the meaning of Na medida queAté onde eu sei Até eu estou cienteAté onde eu posso ver

1-As far as I know he was not involved in the scandal.

2-As far as I am aware, the company owes him a lot of money.

3-As far as I can see, he is going to be free.

Let`s practice a little bit more singing, huh?!!!

Here for you a very nice song from Justin Bieber- As long as you love me!

Dear lady and boys thank you so much for reading this article, and I hope you have understood it pretty well.

Kisses and see you soon!!!

What if there is no life out there???

Hello, ladies and boys! I hope everything is ok!

Every time we are going to study something new and we have to learn something new,
We get in doubt about some aspects and details of what we are studying…
There are a lot of questions to be asked and there are a lot of answer to be found.

Once I was reading about about the Universe and life and I saw myself just wondering about existence

Some people believe that there is life in other planets, some people think we are alone, some people agree that we were created by God, others believe we are always changing, thus we are in an evolutionary process.

Did you know?how

There are billions of huge stars and there are billions of galaxies in the Universe.
The Milky Way is just one of them…

We live in the Solar System which is in The Milky Way.
There is a Sun and there are nine planets, that is what we know so far…earth-23594_960_720

Our planet is called Earth and there is one moon close to us.
Currently, there are approximately 7,347 billion people living on Earth.

There are fourteen moons around Jupiter and
there are ten moons around Saturn.

Eventually, we have some questions…ufo2

Is there anybody living out there???
Who knows???

Who can tell???

Is there oxygen in the atmospheres of other planets?

Why is there oxygen on Earth?
Why is there no oxygen in space?

Is there any other planet with the same atmosphere as us?
Yes, there are other planets with atmospheres, but they are very thick, hot and acidic.
However there is no way to know for certain if there are other planets like ours, we do know that there are other stars that look like the sun out there…

Every time you want to talk about existence you use:
There is (singular) and There are (plural).

To make questions you have just to change the sentence order and ask:
Is there…?
Are there…?

To form negative statements, you can say…
There is no… or There isn`t…
There are no…. or There aren`t….

Como você pode ver, para falar de existência (Há, de haver e existir) você deve usar There is se for no singular e There are se for no plural.

Se for perguntar algo…
Is there… ?
Are there…?

E para negar você deve dizer… (Não há, não existe, não existem, não tem…)
There is no… or There isn`t…
There are no…. or There aren`t….

That`s it guys! Thank you so much for being here with me once more and I hope to be with you soon!!!

See you soon!
